I definitely agree with the comment that long-term the M1 MacBook Air is the best value, and will be noticeably better. I wouldn’t spend the extra money on the newest MacBook
Virtually no Intel Mac (other than a Mac/iMac Pro) is worth more than about $300 right now. No MacBook Pro or Air is worth that much given the low floor of M1 Macs. There’s also the issue of the keyboard failure in many of the butterfly switch Macs.
